gay imagery in fashion branding: abercrombie & fitch, gucci, d&g, jean paul gaultier, boy george, madonna all influence the way we see gay fashion branding...by doing a discourse analysis a better understanding of how gays are empowered or disempowered by sexualised imagery can be remastered and achieved

This could go either way: either its showing male fashion in general or aimed towards the gay market. you dont have to be gay to wear the same clothes!!
I think it appeals to anyone who has good fashion sense.Gay or not gay.
(This is a difficult one. I'm not quite sure what your question means: do you want to know whether homosexual imagery is relevant in creating a successful brand OR whether homosexual consumers regard it as a relevant, necessary feature in a brand?) Again, one should not stereotype. Gay men do not all have the same taste in fashion. What IS a typical "gay look/image" anyway? A fashion house would have to decide who it is targeting and bear in mind that gays have unique preferences. Gays don't all LOOK the same! I also suspect that some straight men would find it difficult to identify with a fashion house who decides to portray a stereotypical "gay image" or indicates that certain garments are intended specifically for gays. Why make that distinction in the first place? Allow the consumer the freedom to choose his own look. I hope I've made sense... I feel strongly about NOT stereotyping and NOT generalising. Each person (gay or not) is a unique individual and expects to be treated that way.
